How much is a smog check in Bakersfield?
$41.75 for most vehicles with our coupon, plus the $8.25 state certificate that's only added when your vehicle passes. Diesels and some vehicles may vary — call us for your exact price.
Do I need an appointment?
No — walk-ins are welcome Monday through Saturday. You'll find our current hours in the header, the footer and on our location page.
What is a test-only station?
A station licensed by the state only to inspect and certify vehicles, never to repair them. Because we can't sell repairs, there's no upsell and no reason to fail you unfairly. Gross polluters can be certified here too.
What is a STAR smog check?
If your DMV renewal notice says certification is required at a STAR station, you're in the right place. STAR stations are monitored closely by the Bureau of Automotive Repair and held to higher performance standards.
Do you test diesel and hybrid vehicles?
Yes. We test every vehicle — gas, diesel and hybrid u2014 for registration renewal, out-of-state, change of ownership and gross-polluter certification.
What happens if my vehicle fails?
We'll explain exactly why it failed and what needs attention. After the repair, bring it back for a retest — and you may qualify for up to $500 in repair help through the state's Consumer Assistance Program.
How long does a smog check take?
Most take about fifteen minutes. A good fifteen-minute drive beforehand warms up the engine and catalytic converter, which helps your vehicle test at its best.
